What Is the Vaginoplasty Procedure?

A vaginoplasty is sometimes referred to as a vaginal tightening surgery or vaginal rejuvenation. This surgery is meant to fix the pelvic floor muscles and address any posterior vaginal floor dysfunction and prolapse. A vaginoplasty allows the surgeon to repair, tighten and restore pelvic muscles to their correct anatomical position and function.

Once the patient is completely numb we perform the procedure utilizing the newest techniques and equipment. We imbricate the pelvic floor muscle in order to restore tightness and muscle control.

We then remove all excess loose tissue in order to decrease the diameter of the vaginal canal and allow for improved friction and sensation for both the patient and their partner.

What to Expect on Surgery Day

On average the procedure takes between 1 to 1.5 hours and then you recover with us in our recovery room. This is where our staff will carefully and in detail review all post op instructions and medication. We do provide necessary supplies for your healing journey.

The majority of our patients are discharged home without a foley catheter and are able to walk and shower on day 1. We schedule routine follow ups with Dr. Ghozland so that you are being carefully followed. We are available 24 hours a day for emergency calls.

Recovery Timeline

The typical recovery is approximately six weeks. However, most patients return to work within a few days and are able to return to the gym within three weeks for the most part.

Most patients resume full activities within 6 weeks from surgery. We keep contact with you carefully throughout the process of your healing journey to make sure that you are healing correctly and are well supported.
